Abyd is a Managing Director, ESG Advisory at Bank of America based in London. From 2007-2014, he served as Merrill Lynch’s (subsequently BofAML) Global Head of Carbon Markets. In 2014, he became part of the team supporting the bank’s broader capital deployment commitment to mobilise $1.5 trillion in sustainable finance by 2030. He has worked for more than 30 years on climate change and sustainable finance and was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for these efforts in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for 2019. In June 2022, Financial News included Abyd in its inaugural list of “The 50 Most Influential in Sustainable Finance.”

Before joining the financial sector in 2007, he was a partner in a management consulting firm in Washington DC, Toronto and London where he advised companies on their climate strategy and also spent two years with the United Nations Environment Programme in Paris as Energy and Climate Change Programme Officer. From 2013 to 2015, Abyd was selected to serve as one of two inaugural private sector representatives to the Board of the UN Green Climate Fund in Songdo, South Korea.

His current external advisory roles include the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance, and co-chair of the Sustainable Finance Working Group for the International Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the Judging Panel for the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the Board of the International Emissions Trading Association and on the National Committee for NGO the Aga Khan Foundation (UK). He holds an MS in Technology and Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Katie is a Director and leads the EY UK Sustainable Finance Transformation team. In this role her focus is on transforming financial services organisations to ensure they are fit for purpose as we transition to a more sustainable world. In practice this means supporting clients with the end to end implementation of sustainable finance regulations, frameworks and guidance. Katie’s particular focus is on nature and she has been responsible for authoring a number of papers.

Katie aims to share knowledge and equip others so is also a tutor for the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership. In addition Katie has worked with UN Women UK since 2015 and currently sits on their Governance and Risk Committee.

In 2017 Katie was shortlisted for Young Professional of the Year by Women in Banking and Finance and also featured as one of the ‘30 Ones to Watch 2016: Rising stars of the City for Brummell magazine.

Oliver is a Managing Director leading AFME’s work on sustainable finance. He is also AFME’s General Counsel and Company Secretary. Oliver joined AFME in 2012 and previously led AFME’s work on Brexit and Recovery and Resolution policy. He also advises on legal and governance matters. Prior to joining AFME, Oliver was a Senior Associate at the law firm Hogan Lovells, where he advised on restructurings and insolvencies of large companies and financial institutions. He also spent a period on secondment to Barclays’ legal team. Oliver has a law degree from the University of Bristol.
