AFME divisions work with members, regulators, and policymakers to help develop a more sustainable and efficient financial industry.


Public Policy and Advocacy

The Public policy and advocacy division focuses on regulatory and legislative reform proposals impacting member firms.

  • The Public policy and advocacy division concentrates its advocacy efforts on regulatory and legislative reform proposals that impact our member firms.

Capital Markets

AFME’s capital markets team covers issues and regulation affecting fixed income and equity markets.

  • AFME’s Corporate Finance division looks at the commercial, legal, and regulatory aspects of mergers and acquisitions and the public issuance of securities (including the role of sponsors).

  • The Covered Bonds trading division aims to promote an efficient pan-European covered bond market.

  • The Credit division monitors developments in policy and market structure that might affect the corporate bond and loan markets. 

  • The Equities trading division monitors and analyses the policy and market developments that affect equities markets.

  • The Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Division works to promote efficient and coordinated equity-raising transactions in Europe and to develop good practice. 

  • The High Yield division focuses on promoting transparency and liquidity in the high yield and leveraged loan markets.

  • Post Trade focuses on the creation of a single integrated post-trading process for securities transactions in Europe.

  • The Primary Dealers board monitors developments in regulation, policy and market structure that affect the rates markets and formulates industry-wide responses to these developments.

  • Prime Services works to improve understanding of the prime services business by developing relationships with policymakers to shape policy.

  • The Securitisation division focuses on financial markets policy issues, development of best practices and member education.


Policy and Compliance

AFME's team of experts is engaged on policy and compliance issues that affect UK, European and global markets.

  • The Accounting division represents members' views on the development and implementation of international accounting standards. 

  • The Compliance division leads AFME’s work on Conduct Regulation.

  • The Tax / VAT division represents member firms and helps them analyse and communicate the impact of proposed legislation.


The Prudential regulation division focuses on issues related to global regulatory frameworks.

Technology & Operations

AFME's Technology & Operations Committee was initiated in 2016 as a point of focus within the industry for stakeholders to engage on technology and operational matters.


The Global FX Division and Commodities Working Group works with members and our affiliates in the US and Asia under the GFMA umbrella to help develop best practice in foreign exchange and commodity markets.


  • GFMA’s Commodities Working Group (CWG) focuses on regulatory issues specific to banks operating in the financial and physical commodities markets.

  • The Global FX Division of the GFMA is committed to promoting an efficient, robust and well-functioning global FX market.
