T+1 Settlement Cycle

Europe, including the EU, UK and Switzerland, is migrating to a default T+1 securities settlement cycle on 11 October 2027.

AFME and its members are key contributors to ongoing industry initiatives to support the move to T+1. We are a member of the Oversight Committee of the UK Accelerated Settlement Taskforce, and a member of the EU T+1 Industry Committee, to which we also provide secretariat support.

AFME supports the move to T+1 and recognises the potential benefits in terms of efficiency improvements and risk reduction, as well as the need for global alignment of settlement cycles. Successful delivery of the T+1 project requires broad collaboration across all industry stakeholders, and represents a complex, multi-year undertaking. AFME encourages all market participants to start planning for the move to T+1, and to participate in the relevant industry forums.
