Commenting on the measures announced today in the UK Budget, Simon Lewis, Chief Executive of AFME, said:
“We welcome that the UK Government is listening to requests to set out a long-term roadmap for the taxation of banks, and that the distortive impact of the bank levy will be reduced. We note however that the Budget announcement of a new tax on the banking sector still marks a further overall tax increase.”
