Webinar: Sizing and Resolving COVID-19 European Corporate Recapitalisation - Equity and Hybrid Markets Solutions
Overview
Tuesday, 26 January, 11:00-12:30 BST/12:00-13:30 CET
After months of lockdown and with COVID-19 vaccines on the horizon, it is now time for Europe to look towards long-term economic recovery and the recapitalisation of large and small corporates.
While debt finance and public sector support have ‘rescued’ European businesses so far, alternative types and sources of funding will be required to support the economic recovery. Policymakers and market participants need to develop further short and medium term measures to support Europe’s equity and hybrid markets and accelerate the Capital Markets Union to help fund the recovery.
AFME, in collaboration with PwC, have released a report on this topic that looks to size the scale of public and private sector equity available, the shortfall, the nature of the funding challenge facing Europe, as well as proposed solutions.
This webinar featured policymakers and industry experts who discussed the necessary steps for Europe to support its economic recovery.
The Webinar featured:
Tatyana Panova, Head of Unit for Capital Markets Union, DG FISMA, European Commission
James Chew, Global Head, Regulatory Strategy, HSBC
Stefano Firpo, Senior Director, Intesa Sanpaolo
Uli Grabenwarter, Deputy Director, Equity Investments, EIF
Nick Forrest, UK Economics Consulting Leader, PwC
