The new UK Regulatory Framework: Planning for change in 2023

16 February 2023
/
Virtual (GMT)

Overview

All AFME member firms with operations or clients in the United Kingdom will need to understand and prepare for the outcomes of the wide-ranging Financial Services and Markets Bill (FSMB) anticipated to gain Royal Assent and come into force in Q2 2023. This member briefing call aims to provide a practical evaluation of what the FSMB means for their 2023 business planning.

This webinar will take place 16 February 2023 14:30-15:30 GMT / 15:30-16:30 CET

The FSMB aims to implement the outcomes of the government’s Future Regulatory Framework (FRF) review and to make other changes to update the UK regulatory regime. It would revoke retained EU law on financial services and give HM Treasury broad powers to make regulations restating and revising that law and designating other activities for regulation by the UK regulators. It would also make changes to the UK regulators’ objectives and the mechanisms for their accountability. It also would give HM Treasury new powers to implement mutual recognition arrangements with other countries.

In addition, the FSMB would implement the outcomes of other reviews, including the reviews of the regulation of wholesale markets, financial market infrastructure, digital settlement assets, critical third-party service providers, financial promotions and access to cash and of the regimes for central counterparties and insurers in financial difficulties.

This webinar will provide a practical evaluation for AFME member firms of what the new UK Regulatory Framework and the Financial Services and Markets Bill means for their 2023 business planning.

Please note, this event is open to all AFME members.
