Digital Finance Breakfast: Driving European innovation in the Digital Age
Overview
Monday 21 September, 08:00 BST / 09:00 CEST
While the European Commission’s Digital Finance legislative proposals are expected in the coming weeks, it is more important than ever for the EU to develop a strong digital agenda in order to remain competitive and at the forefront of global innovation.
Digitalisation is expected to enable closer European integration and help in the delivery of the Capital Markets Union (CMU), by reducing barriers to cross-border business and transactions costs. However these benefits are only possible if existing EU regulatory frameworks are fit for purpose in the context of new technology adoption and current regulatory obstacles are removed. EU regulatory frameworks must incorporate several key principles to ensure they support technology adoption and innovation in capital markets
Panellists include:
- Andrea Beltramello, Member of the Cabinet of Vice-President Dombrovskis, European Commission
- Ondřej Kovařík, Member of the European Parliament, European Parliament
- Dolores Ramos Martinez - Public Policy, Senior Manager, Banco Santander
