The UK has undertaken a significant programme of financial markets reform, creating a more modern and competitive regulatory framework. The challenge now is to ensure these reforms deliver tangible outcomes for the wider economy: deeper markets, stronger liquidity, more productive investment, and greater capacity for businesses to scale, hire and compete. This paper sets out a forward-looking agenda for UK financial markets, focused on enhancing wholesale markets, enabling the adoption of digital and DLT-based infrastructure, meaningful reform of the prudential regime, and advancing regulatory initiatives that strengthen competitiveness, reduce unnecessary frictions and help channel capital into the companies, infrastructure and innovations that will drive long-term growth in the UK.
