AFME will be holding the 4th Annual Spanish Funding Conference in Madrid on 27 November 2012.  

The 2012 conference will offer delegates a full update on the securitisation and covered bonds markets in Spain and Europe. Panels of industry leaders and experts will discuss the funding choices currently available; assess the challenges facing the markets and debate what the future may hold. The challenge for markets, policymakers and investors 

At this event, AFME convened a senior group of EU policymakers, MEPs, financial sector and buy-side representatives and corporate executives to consider a central aspect of the challenge for the financial sector: how to attract savings and channel investment to finance economic growth in Europe. Participants in the Brussels symposium were invited to consider the structural and policy issues involved – identifying where solutions depend on financial policy and regulation; on market agents; or on reforms to economic and fiscal management.

To provide an analytical evidence base, AFME commissioned Dr John Llewellyn of Llewellyn Consulting to prepare a discussion paper on the challenges for financing investment in the European economy.

Following the successful 2011 event in Brussels which attracted more than 3000 attendees, members of AFME/IMN have decided to return to Belgium once again in 2012. AFME held its 2011 annual dinner, hosted by its chairman, Gael de Boissard, at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel on 12th October. Some 180 invited guests, including politicians and regulators, senior figures from the European financial sector and leading financial journalists, attended to hear a keynote speech from Jean-Claude Trichet, President of the European Central Bank, just a few weeks before retiring from the post he has held for the past eight years. Sir Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank of England gave a moving and personal vote of thanks to President Trichet, recalling how they had first met some 40 years before.

AFME is joining together with IMN for the European Cup of ETFs and Investment Management. Being held in London this 19-20 September, Europe's leading institutional investors, financial advisors, consultants, academics, investment managers and industry experts in the European ETF, indexing, investment and risk management arenas will gather to discuss how providers and investors have responded to the uncertain macroeconomic environment, and the impact of new regulations on the changing investment landscape.

ISLA/AFME 20th Annual International Securities Lending Conference
