Focusing on the public issuance of securities and the commercial, legal and regulatory aspects of mergers and acquisitions, the Corporate Finance division advocates for open markets across the EU and the UK and promotes the development of proportionate regulation that preserves flexibility for issuers while ensuring fairness for shareholders.
The division represents the views of participants in the wholesale financial market and provides support to regulators and policymakers in helping them to understand the sector and the issues affecting it. AFME staff work with teams of experts from member firms on projects ranging from informal discussion groups to formal responses to government and regulators’ consultations.
The division also nominates one member to The Takeover Panel (the UK body for Takeovers and Mergers) and co-ordinates the nomination of two additional members by the AFME Board of Directors and Securities Trading Committee.
